Olde Dartmouth Sotheby's International Realty team members
Olde Dartmouth Sotheby's International Realty serves the villages of the
historic South Coast and specializes
in the marketing of distinctive properties:
- Waterfront land and homes
- Vintage village historical classics
- Elegant homes of character, and
- Large land parcels suitable for subdivisions
or farms
The Olde Dartmouth Sotheby's International Realty waterfront areas stretch from
Wareham to Westport and include the beach communities of: Onset,
Briarwood, Marion Harbor, Silver Shell Beach, Piney Point, Harbor
Beach, Crescent Beach, Brandt Beach, Shaw's Cove, Little Bay, West
Island, Wilbur's Point, Sconticut Neck, Stoneledge Beach, Anthony
Beach, Ricketson's Point, Bay View, Round Hill, Slater's Point, Horseneck Beach, Acoaxet, Old Harbor, Padanarum, Nonquit, Westport River, Assonet Bay and Long Pong!.
Vintage historical homes are located in the village
centers of Marion, Mattapoisett,
Fairhaven, Poverty Point, Padanaram,
Hixville, Adamsville, Westport Point
and New Bedford's west-end and downtown
center. Old country roads in Acushnet
and Rochester also have their share
of antique farm homes. Vintage homes date back to the Federal period,
but Greek Revival classics dominate the area. Greek Revival architecture
was the choice of many whaling captains during the area's hay-day.
New Bedford has the area's largest inventory of Queen Anne and Victorian
homes as well as some Italianate and Second Empire houses. Gothic
Revival homes can be found from Marion to Westport. Fairhaven has
the oldest inventory of Federal homes, predating the revolution.
Few undeveloped land parcels remain. North Dartmouth,
South Dartmouth and Westport have the most farmland and forests.
Rochester and Acushnet, traditionally agricultural, are slowing
development through stricter subdivision requirements. Westport
has tax incentives and restrictive bylaws for agricultural land,
perpetuating its use as farmland far into the future. Most towns
have created land trusts to purchase fragile undeveloped areas.
Additional funds have been made available by the Commonwealth and
from nonprofit organizations. If you have interest in buying a large
land parcel, we know where they are. If you own such a parcel, we
have buyers waiting for your land. We can guide you through the
subdivision maze for land development and are experts on the governmental
process.
